Severe head and neck pain.
Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain.
Numbness & tingling.
Shortness of breath.
All over weakness and flu-like feeling.
The last few days I have been detoxing heavy metals. It’s one of the many problems associated with Lyme & tick disease. We hold on to toxins, they build up and every now and then, our bodies figure out how to dump some.
When I crash like this, my husband always tries to figure out what’s going on – the symptoms are similar to the infections and other conditions, and how we manage the symptoms can be quite different.
For heavy metal detox, binders are critical. But sometimes I just have to go through a day or two of hell to get to the point I can even hold the pills down.
I detox regularly – sauna, epsom salt baths, lemon water, dry brushing, lymph massage. But my body is so whacked out I can only do these things on days I’m not dumping a mass amount of toxins.
It seems backwards but if I sauna on bad days, I’m guaranteed increased pain and sickness. I don’t believe in making yourself significantly worse to get a little bit better. My doctors don’t either.
I’m so thankful to have had a call with my doctor the first day of this crash. To identify the problem and calm the symptoms, even just a little.
Sometimes knowing I’m not alone when I’m curled up under the blankets in tears is as important as knowing what to do to ease the symptoms.
If you have a loved one fighting Lyme and the many issues that go with it, learn everything you can about alternative methods to calm simple symptoms.
For example: when I have nausea, my husband rubs the soft area between my 2nd and 3rd toe. This will calm the nausea quickly and allow me to take anti-nausea meds.
Those are the things that can make or break a day for me. We are learning so much that helps – but our bodies are so intricate and fascinating that there is so much to learn. It can feel daunting – but keep learning – and don’t stop.
Your worth it.
