Calming Salicylate Sensitivity

  • Omega 3 – helps prevent inflammatory response
  • Peppers with capsaicin – regular consumption reduces the bioavailability of salicylates in the bloodstream (habanero, Thai, Tabasco & cayenne are high in capsaicin)
  • Zantac (Nigella sativa) – Histamine 2 antagonists (blockers) have been shown to protect the stomach lining against aspirin (salicylic acid)
  • Epsom salt baths – raising sulfur may help normalize salicylate levels
  • Sunshine – UV rays increase levels of the anti inflammatory PGE2 (which may help calm reactions to salicylate
