WARNING: RANT INCOMING

THERE IS NO SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT THAT CLAIM

I am so sick of hearing and reading that phrase!

It generally has come from well meaning people, including many, many, many doctors.

All it means is that no one has bothered to study it!!!

I recently did the Master Cleanse (aka lemonade diet). I really like it and plan to do it again. BUT I have extremely uncommon digestive issues, making it less productive and harder to stay on than it should be.

So I’m doing a little research trying to understand why and what I might be able to do in order to not have these issues.

I find numerous people who have asked the same question only to be met by the ultimate rebuttal: “there is no scientific evidence to support that claim”.

I AM THE SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE!!!

It happens to me – and apparently a lot of other people – so there has to be something to the claim. Otherwise, it would not happen.

When I first became disabled, I was desperately seeking a doctor who would take my concerns seriously. I saw over 50 doctors (over the course of 8 years).

During that time, I found a practitioner who was using natural / alternative protocols that I wanted to add to my daily regimen. I had a first meeting with a well respected local GP in the hopes of finding someone who would compliment the path I was taking.

When I told her I was working with a natural practitioner, her response (you guessed it!): “there’s no scientific evidence that natural remedies work.” With that, she stated we were not a good fit and she would not be accepting me as a patient.

If something works for you (or isn’t working for you) forget about scientific evidence. Trust your body. Trust your instincts.

Quite frankly, the scientific evidence (or lack thereof) isn’t working for me. And those people using it as a counter attack against my efforts to get better (well meaning or not) are nothing short of ignorant and cruel.

Step up to the plate and help find solutions or sit down and shut up.
