Yesterday completed 2 weeks at Biologix. I am improving so much and am excited to have the opportunity to add a third week to our stay.

Pain

Prior to coming here, I was on a high dose Butrans pain patch, Lyrica for numbness, and oxy or Norco for breakthrough pain. I am currently off all pain meds. Actually, I’m off all prescription meds altogether.

I still have pain – but this time last month, being off pain meds would have meant around the clock crying and many visits to the ER.

Sleep

The human body is an amazing, complex creature designed by God with purpose. Our sleep-wake cycle is a complex system that involves a variety of components to function properly.

2 of these key components are glutamate and GABA.

Glutamate is an excitatory neurotransmitter that helps regulate sleep duration, REM and wakefulness.

GABA (the main inhibitory neurotransmitter) promotes sleep. Interestingly, glutamate is the precursor to GABA.

Excess glutamate won’t trigger the production of GABA. So essentially, the awake switch stays on…insomnia.

People who are having trouble sleeping may try taking melatonin, serotonin, or other remedies to promote better sleep. But insomnia and other sleep syndromes can be the result of any number of disruptions in the sleep-wake system.

If you take melatonin and that’s not the component causing the disruption in your system, the problem can get worse or create other issues. Knowing which component is off-balance is critical to ensuring your body gets back to functioning the way it is designed to function.

The doctors at the Biologix Center are able to identify the specific imbalances YOUR body is experiencing and help your body correct those imbalances so you become a healthier you – regardless of what illness or condition initially triggered those imbalances.

They don’t cover symptoms, they address the root cause that is allowing the symptom to occur, which is different from person to person.

And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. Matthew 8:24-26

I’ve been in the storm many times and my initial reaction is to cry out to Jesus thinking I am waking Him from His sleep…as if He doesn’t know the storm is raging all around us.

Oh to have faith enough to walk on water in the midst of the storm.
