We are on our last travel day heading for home. We are having an awesome time traveling and I continue to feel positive effects of treatment.
My mother-in-law recommended Rye
Patch Reservoir as a place for us to stay on our way home. She and my father-in-law would stay here for days at a time during their travels across country. She spoke of it with so much excitement we couldn’t pass it up.

At first sight from the highway, the land looked a little barren.
As we wandered further in, we found the reservoir with several campgrounds and day use areas.

The river campground (where we stayed) is nestled down in a trench cut by the Humboldt River surrounded by sagebrush, grease wood, saltbush, rabbitbrush and great basin wild rye. Located on the downside of the dam, the site has stunning views of the water and mountains.

I get so excited to find hidden gems like this. We have stumbled across a number of unexpected treasures on our trek – places that will stay in our hearts and minds for years to come . This one hold special meaning because my husbands parents loved it so much. And we now understand why. This place continued to provide an environment for peace and healing.
If you are traveling across Interstate 80 and looking for a spot to stop for the night, we highly recommend it.
