It is not uncommon for chronically sick people to feel forgotten. People who are not sick go about living life and while their intentions to check in on the sick are good, life has a way of moving the healthy forward while the sick often get left behind and forgotten.
Sometimes it can even seem like God has forgotten. The quiet of a dark and lonely bedroom can become so dreary that it’s hard to feel Gods presence.
Over the years I have heard people say if you want to see the Lord, you have to seek Him first. It’s as if people think I or others don’t have enough faith so God isn’t showing up.
Remember these, O Jacob, And Israel, for you are My servant; I have formed you, you are My servant; O Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me!
Isaiah 44:21
God doesn’t forget us. He is always there. And yes, there are times we move away from God and we need to move back closer to Him, but God never forgets us and sometimes, He is the one to make the move simply to remind us that He is still God and He still remembers us.
In the last month or so, God has reminded me in big ways that I am not forgotten. When I felt hopeless, He showed up with encouragement. When I felt lost, He provided direction. When I felt alone, He brought me companionship.
If you are feeling like you’re in the valley of despair, hold on – He is still there and He has not forgotten you.
