One of the great things about a self contained RV is that we cans pens the night at rest areas. Some are just stops – but believe it or not, some are pretty cool.

Last night we stayed in one in the Arizona desert. Beautiful sunsets but pretty much flat and hot and we were right next to the freeway – so loud.

Still – grateful for a safe place to sleep and our traveling home.

This would have been a cool place to visit – but it’s too dang hot so we settled for the gift shop. It was pretty cool too.

Painted Desert

Pictures don’t do justice to the painted desert. It’s absolutely stunning.

New Mexico

About 15 miles before the NM border, the landscape changes and suddenly you’re surrounded by tall rock walls.

A HOGAN is a traditional Navajo dwelling. These are scattered about now, but they used to be the main dwelling type. They use packed mud against wood structure – which makes them energy efficient.

Continental Divide

The continental divide is the point On the continent where water flows to the west in one direction and to the East in the other. We didn’t stop this time, but the photo below was taken as we passed it.
