I’d love to have one of these on my property. Think they’d miss it?
Old Rte 66
Radiator Springs (aka Tucumcari, NM)
We had planned to stop here to check out this old Route 66 town – but it also has the closest tire center.
Tucumcari: “to lie in wait for something to approach”
I don’t know what I was expecting, but it’s a sad little town with remnants of what used to be scattered about. Many buildings and signs on the main road coming into town are abandoned or destroyed.
They’ve left some of the old buildings and signs – and they say the neon at night is really special. It would be nice to see the town restored to its old beauty, rather than just withering away. But it was still cool to visit.

Welcome to Texas
We were not in Texas long and I slept through most of it.
Sidenote: I was born in El Paso – lives there 18 days. Some day I’d like to go back and just check it out. Another trip.
Welcome to Oklahoma

Who knew some of the Love’s truck stops have RV hookups and a dog park? Not me!

Road trip boizzzz!
We found one in Guthrie Oklahoma. I booked it. We tried to hook up (with a specific code) and discovered the reservation was for Green River Utah.
Called corporate – they were having computer issues so he promised to call Utah and cancel it, then call Oklahoma and have them set us up.
The amazing people in Guthrie comp’d our night because it was a computer issue. They were so good to us! And made a long day a little better.
Let the pups loose in the dog park. Realized there was a second entrance (that was open) just as one of them bolted across the big rig parking lot.
What a long, exhausting, chaotic day. Good thing we both have a sense of humor and enjoy adventure!
Gonna have a quick and easy dinner and climb into bed.
Tomorrow morning we head to Tulsa to visit with my auntie and cousins.
