David’s parents moved here in 1999. They loved it here.

Dayles Bridge – over Dayles River

This is Dayles bridge over Dayles River. The birds did not like the drone – they were swarming it like crazy!
I don’t know what I thought Arkansas looked like but it’s really much prettier than I thought – very diverse – lots of lakes and greenery.
South of Little Rock is uncharted territory for us. The freeways cease to exist – highways littered with small towns (meaning no rest areas and very few truck stops). It’s how I imagined the heartland – and truly, this is the first time I’ve felt like I was in it.

Pine Bluff – Martha Mitchell
We’ve been watching Gaslit – don’t spoil it, we are 2 episodes behind!
Driving through Pine Bluff we crossed the Martha Mitchell Expressway.
Martha was raised in Pine Bluff. In 1975, a man bought that home. A year later, Martha died. So many people wanted to come see the home the man ended up turning it into a museum.

Bayou: Marshy lake or river in the south
Slough: Swamp
Creek: Minor tributary of a River

Louisiana

These trees grow in the water!

This day was much longer than we planned! Mainly because there are literally no rest areas, truck stops or RV parks. Not an issue we ever thought about. So tomorrow will be a nice short day to New Orleans where we plan to have a little fun!
Tonight we are in Tallulah, Louisiana watching Lincoln Lawyer and gettin some shut eye.
Speaking of Tallulah – this is feom one of my all time favorite movies – Bugsy Malone with Scott Baio and Jodi Foster. If you haven’t seen it – you should!
