A few years back, Dave and I spent a week on Kauai. It was huuuuumid!

My pain dissipated. We came home and boom – pain high.

Every time I’ve been somewhere with humidity, my pain drops – not gone, but bearable.

The last several days have been high humidity – and it’s been great. Today – pain is up because the humidity is low.

Why?

I guess that’s my next research project. If you have thoughts on why this happens – leave me a comment!

Other Symptoms

When we talk to people about Lyme, we usually talk a lot about pain, headaches, swollen joints, fatigue, cognitive issues and more of the things that are common across the board.

But there’s so much more. At one point I’d logged 135 symptoms. Twitches, air hunger, vision problems, word finding, numbness, burning – you name it, I had it!

Today – along with increased pain, I’ve got horrible rashes (psoriasis on my elbows and vasicular exzema on my hands and feet; I get dizzy when I stand up, my fingers aren’t coordinating well, my wrist and thumb are swollen and hurting, so is my knee, I a bunch of weird bruises and I just feel all over crummy (yes, that’s a symptom).

My energy isn’t bad, but it’s hard to do anything when so much is a problem.

I have a hard time opening things like ziplock baggies, I tried to pull out the trash can and knocked the whole thing over, I lost my balance walking and jammed the top of my foot into a metal grate, it’s just frustrating.

After having a few not so bad days, a day like today is pretty disheartening. On days like today, I really should just go lay down and let my body rest.

But I don’t. I push through and fight – foolishly thinking if I can just do one more task, I’ll be ok.

Don’t be me – know your limits, respect them, and let your body rest when it needs to.
