We have run our generator pretty much non-stop to power the A/C. This tin can cooks us if we don’t. It’s a trick we learned when we first got the RV – skeptical at first, but boy does it make a difference when it’s 100° outside!

We thought it was cool enough last night to turn it off when we went to bed (85°). By midnight we were sweating and the dogs were panting so Dave got up to turn it on. It would start but then shut off as soon as he took his finger off the switch. Needless to say, we didn’t sleep well.

We woke up early and got on the road while it’s still in the high 70’s.

We are 220 miles from New Orleans. Going to stay tonight and tomorrow there and be in Fort Myers Sunday.

Mississippi

The route from Arkansas to New Orleans includes an awkward jaunt first into LA, then MS before dropping back into LA.

We have been collecting magnets from every state we visit so the jaunt into MS will add one to our wall.

The Mighty Mississip

Except for alligators, I could live here. What a beautiful place to be. Pictures don’t do justice to anything we’ve seen.

A lot of the last 2 days has been back roads, which has been cool to see. These thickets (woods) grow tall on both sides of the road. We’ve pulled up house prices along the way, both here and Arkansas, have incredibly affordable pricing – especially for someone coming from the west coast!

We didn’t realize this existed until we were about 75 miles past it. It looks beautiful! Would be amazing to see – the RV could be a little too tall anyway.

Owl Bayou

I took a ton of pics – or at least I thought I did. Owl Bayou runs between two giant lakes – the highway runs on a bridge over the bayou – about 30 miles. It’s incredible. Might try to go over it again tomorrow to get more pics.

New Orleans

This is one of the dirtiest cities I’ve ever been to. The French quarters is pretty amazing and in a little better shape, but still there’s litter everywhere and it’s just ick.

I would come back with our kids to see the historical sights – but I doubt I’d come here again for anything else.

Date Night in the French Quarter

Dinner at New Orleans Creole Cookery
A Walk Down Bourbon St
Entertainment

Of all the music – the street bands were the coolest. This is New Orleans.

Would have loved to stop and listen to these guys – but we were toast. Long hot day. Did I mention it’s muggy here?
