My dad was in the army when I was young – so we moved around a bit, but ended up in Hawaii for 4 years. My dad was a musician so there were often jam fests most of my young life.

I grew up on 70s rock. But my folks found Cecilio & Kapono in Hawaii. Their music makes me feel like I’m home and can bring me out of a deep funk.

I was listening to them this morning and reminiscing on times when (as an adult) our friends would gather with guitars for what we called feast & fellowship (or jam & jam – jam your face with food and jam on the guitar). We’d play worship songs and just enjoy each other.

Since I’ve been sick, it’s been really hard to maintain friendships. I miss my people. I miss our jam & jams. I miss feeling like I belong, “the closeness you can feel, smiles that are real”.

This song below made me emotional and made me realize how much I miss my FRIENDS.

Cecilio & Kapono – Friends

ITS SO NICE TO SEE FAMILIAR FACES OUT IN THE CROWD
ITS SO NICE TO SEE FRIENDS OF MINE
ENJOYING THEMSELVES
AND EVERYBODY GET HAPPY
CUZ WE CAN WORK IT OUT
WE ARE FRIENDS..FRIENDS, FRIENDS

WE ARE FRIENDS..FRIENDS, FRIENDS

I REMEMBER WHEN I WAS DOWN AND OUT – YOU CAME
AND I REMEMBER WHEN YOU SAID
FRIEND “HEY, WHATS YOUR NAME”
GETTING OFF ON EACH OTHER
WE CAN WORK IT OUT
WE ARE FRIENDS..FRIENDS, FRIENDS

WE ARE FRIENDS..FRIENDS, FRIENDS

THE FEELINGS I GET ARE STRONG – YOU FEEL LIKE YOU BELONG
THE CLOSENESS YOU CAN FEEL
AND SMILES THAT ARE REAL
WE ARE FRIENDS

(INSTRUMENTAL)

IF YOU FEEL LIKE SINGING (IF YOU FEEL IT)
SING OUT LOUD
IT WOULD MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD (IF YOU FEEL IT)
SING RIGHT OUT
BE A PART OF IT ALL
CUZ WE CAN WORK IT OUT
WE ARE FRIENDS..FRIENDS, FRIENDS

WE ARE FRIENDS..FRIENDS, FRIENDS
WE ARE FRIENDS
EVERYBODYS FRIENDS
FRIENDS, FRIENDS
WE ARE FRIENDS
WHOAA OHH OH
FRIENDS, FRIENDS

WE ARE FRIENDS.. FRIENDS, FRIENDS
