Did you know that ADD isn’t an accepted diagnosis in the medical industry? Google it! See what you find. Lots of ADHD sites but little ADD specific info.
That’s because they consider ADD to be ADHD with inattention.
ADHD is Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. Most doctors look for the hyperactive component. For some people, they miss the inattention component if the hyperactive isn’t there.
I recently read a book called Driven to Distraction (given to my husband decades ago) and an updated version called Delivered From Distraction – both about how to identify and work through ADD. The authors disagree with the diagnosis of ADHD with inattention and suggest that ADD can be an important diagnosis, without the hyperactive component.
I took their assessment of 128 questions and answered yes 98 times. Which means I have a very high likelihood of ADD. And it makes total sense – now that I know what it is!
