A family member shared with me that she was prescribed a product called alpha-stim to help her sleep.

My daughter and I both have sleep issues so I looked into it and learned that it does so much more.

There are 2 versions:

• AID – for anxiety, depression & sleep. AID uses Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES) by applying a low amplitude waveform to the brain via earclip electrodes.
• M – for anxiety, depression, sleep, and PAIN. M does everything AID does but also uses Magnetic Electro Therapy (MET) to transmit electrical current either probes or pads.

My daughter used the pads for pain on her feet. It quickly calmed her pain from a 7 to 3.

Then she put the ear clips on for anxiety. Initially you turn it up until you get a vertigo type feeling and then reduce it to comfort. Once it got to a high level, she got dizzy quickly. We brought the level down to comfort and ran it for 20 minutes.

She says it’s better than Xanax! She just about fell asleep sitting there. The next morning, she said she slept pretty good (not something I have ever heard her say in her whole life).

I’ve been playing with the probes for pain. They’re interesting and definitely provide relief quickly.

You start by touching one probe with each thumb – it runs for 10 seconds and then you move outward to each finger (touching the probe with the same finger on each hand). This addresses pain in the arms, shoulders, neck and head.

You can also do the same process on the toes, which addresses pain in the feet and legs.

Both the probes and pads can also be used directly on joints all over the body, including neck and back.

I have more to learn but so far, the alpha-stim is providing a significant level of relief – and that’s such a good thing. But I also think it’s wired up some pain so I’m gonna need to find the right setting for me.

It’s pricey – (AID $840, M $1299). Insurance may cover it, so I’m submitting it for reimbursement. But even without insurance, getting relief from even one of these 4 major issues (anxiety, depression, sleep, & pain), is a huge win.
