Mast Cell Activation Syndrome is one of the co-conditions that often comes with tickborne disease.

I’ve had it under control (mostly) but wow this flare is intense.

I’m so itchy!

Benadryl (oral and topical), cromolyn sodium, HistDAO, Singulair, Xyzal, and stinging nettle are the go-to’s for me to calm it down.

But understanding the WHY is important too.

I started a new meds, it’s allergy season so perhaps there’s a lot of pollen or whatever, maybe both – either way my body just isn’t happy right now. Not sure yet but will be working hard on this.

Right now it seems to be mainly skin related – no throat closure so far but that’s always a scare.

Nonetheless, it’s got me down right now. Which just sucks.

Update 3/23:

The rash calmed down a little and then flared again.

Contacted my doctors office – they increased the protocol to add a prescription similar to Benadryl but stronger, Zyrtec & cortisone cream.

I truly believe the allergies are strong this year and it’s just flaring the mast cell issues.

But it’s pretty rough right now.
