Someone told me that it seems like our life is really great.
It stopped me in my tracks.
No, our life is not really great. It’s really hard. It’s really stressful. It is often really lonely and really painful.
My husband and I work really hard to choose joy every day. We seek adventure (because we love it) but it comes at a cost, and it’s usually not easy to do.
We don’t share publicly the details of our hardships. We have shared with close family and friends some of the major issues we’ve experienced but really it’s a small sampling of the chaos we call life.
For the most part, we choose to share the good more than the bad. We choose to focus on the good. We choose to find the good, to really seek it out even tho most of life is really hard, really painful, really stressful.
It is instinct for us to wallow in our grief. It is human nature for us to worry, to let negative emotions take over when life is scary and hard.
If you’re going through it, I want to encourage you to seek out joy. It’s not easy. But it’s what we are meant to feel – even when everything seems awful and hopeless.
And if you know me and you’re struggling, reach out to – let’s talk.

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
