Lyme Literate Medical Doctors (LLMD’s) are specifically trained to tickborne diseases. They are generally not included in insurance programs, and therefore are paid out of pocket at the time services are rendered.
The International Lyme and Associated Disease Society (ILADS) is the leader in training for tickborne diseases.
You can learn about treatment guidelines and search for an LLMD here: ILADS Patient Center.
I encourage patients to do research on both prescription and natural remedies and decide which route to pursue before meeting with any doctors.
You need to own your own care! Doctors can and should help guide your treatment but they should first and foremost support your choice of treatment path.
Dr. Steven Harris
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Harris since early 2014. Next to my husband, he has been my biggest cheerleader.
He is world renowned for his knowledge and experience. He trains other doctors and has literally written the book on treating patients (see below).
What I appreciate about Dr. Harris is that he puts YOU in the driver’s seat. He is open to alternative and natural programs and has supported every effort I’ve made to get well.
He is also not strictly focused on Lyme disease – he is essentially an investigator, seeking to find any and all causes of sickness.
Dr. Harris founded Pacific Frontier Medical in 2001, which merged with Gordon Medical in 2024.
His book, the Order of Treatment, which is written to help patients make decisions about the treatment process, is due to come out soon.
He has made chapter 1 available for all to read at the link below.

Gordon Medical
Dr. Eric Gordon and his team take an integrative approach to health – they are “thought leaders dedicated to navigating the complexities of difficult-to-diagnose illnesses.”
Like Dr. Harris, they see treatment as a partnership with their patients – educating them and letting them own their wellness journey.
They have lots of free material on their website. Click the link below and select resources from the main menu.
